The Next Osama…
I loved this book! It’s a psychological thriller that breaks just enough rules of the genre so there’s something here for everyone.
Cleverly plotted and tension-filled, it’s a good read (and a good ride) from start to finish. But wait! It’s also a sensitive, character driven commentary on life in post 9/11 America. Judith Acosta has populated her story with characters whose lives are so different from one another that they intersect only by chance, fueled by rumor, greed and fear. The character, Misha, my particular favorite, is a complex, unusual portrait of a lost, hapless and stubborn man. I have never met anyone quite like him.
The title itself, “The Next Osama”, presents the first question in a book that asks a lot of questions. The plot holds many surprises. All the characters are interesting and beautifully drawn. I didn’t want this book to end, but at the same time I couldn’t read it fast enough. I thought about the book from every angle long after I finished it, and you will too.
